IN a game they dominated, a makeshift Saints eleven did everything but score as they fell 2-1 to Aviemore Thistle in a friendly match.

Two trialists were included in the fourteen man squad who travelled to Badenoch and Strathspey, while several regulars missed out, carrying knocks from the midweek game against Fort William.

Former Strathspey Thistle striker David Robertson opened the scoring after his free kick deflected off the back of Paul Cowie, deceiving Steven Martin in the Saints goal. Top scorer Scott Miller quickly pulled a goal back to level the scores before half time, sending the ball over the top of Benn Bremner with a neat finish.

Despite countless chances for the Saints in a second half of one way traffic, it was a tremendous goal for the home side which won the tie, Robertson netting again with a 30 yard drive that sailed over the top of Saints keeper Martin.
