THE CLUB confirmed the signing of Craig Sutherland and John Mackay last night, after both had impressed during friendly matches this past fortnight.
Craig Sutherand, 24, hails from Brora and played as a striker for his hometown side Brora Wanderers during the North West Sutherland summer season, alongside several of the existing Saints squad. Prior to that, he had represented his university club, Heriot-Watt, for several seasons during his years as a student.
John Mackay, also 24, resides in Embo, and established himself last summer as Dornoch City's top marksman. John got off the mark for the club as a trialist last weekend with two goals as a substitute in a 6-1 win against Loch Ness FC.
Speaking today, team manager Stuart Ross expressed his delight at the capture of John and Craig.
We were pleased to get the chance to look at Craig when he returned from traveling late last year and having played alongside several of the Saints' lads during the summer, he came along on their recommendation. We're delighted to say that Craig's attitude and application in training has been impeaccable since the first day. He has worked very hard already since he started training with us in December and is very focussed on his own improvement.
On John, he is one who we've had on the radar since the beginning of this season, but injury has prevented us from getting a good look at him. We got to see him in action for Dornoch a couple of weeks ago and we were impressed with what we saw. He's got a wee bit to go fitness wise, as you'd expect at this stage in the winter without any games, but we'll get him there but ability wise, it's plain to see. He has a lot of attributes that will make him a fantastic signing for the club.
