Game: Thurso FC v St Duthus FC (Jock Mackay Cup Semi Final)
Date: Saturday, March 25th, 2017
Venue: Sir Georges Park, Thurso
Referee: Graham John
Assistants: Paul Reid & Stephen Tait
THE DIRT has barely been dusted off the boots since the Saints played in their last Jock Mackay Cup round against Alness last Saturday. Tomorrow, they travel to the Dammies where they will look to overcome Thurso for the first time this season and make history by booking their place in the Jock Mackay Cup Final. Team manager Stuart Ross is looking ahead to the tie with anticipation.
The boys went out and did everything we asked of them last week to set up this semi final. I'll be hoping for the same tomorrow. Thurso is a tough venue. That said, we felt unlucky last time we came up here in the league, and we'll be hopeful of being able to reach the final.
Stevie Reid will have his boys well organised, as they were in Tain a few weeks ago. They've had a really strong second half of the season, picking up some really good results. We're happy with that underdog tag though, one we've had for most of the season. It'll be up to us to show what we can do and come back to Tain with a cup final to look forward to.
St Duthus will be without Sam Beeston and Cameron Mackintosh, but will welcome back Martyn Farquhar, who returns from work. As has been the case throughout the season, training was well attended, and a near full squad is available for the trip.
Thurso will be looking to pick themselves up following defeat to Invergordon last week, after the new champions ended the Vikings' four game winning run.
