THE 2016-17 Scottish Non-league Programme of the Year awards have been published and we are pleased to confirm that our St Duthus FC home matchday programme finished tenth overall, doing well against stiff competition from across the Highland League, Lowland League, East and South of Scotland Leagues and the Junior leagues.
As the only club in the North Caledonian League to issue a match programme, the Saints did well to finish above several Highland League sides, including Brora Rangers, Wick Academy, Turriff United and Cove Rangers.
Throughout the season St Duthus produced 12 issues, covering every home match played during 2016-17 for all competitions and friendly matches.
East Region junior side Thornton Hibs scooped first place, while Highland Football League contenders Formartine United finished second. Gala Fairydean Rovers came third.
Chairperson Niall Harkiss said:
"While not everybody is a collector, the match programme has always been a prominent part of the matchday experience in senior football. Taking this season as an example alone, we have met many fans who have travelled a significant distance to come to Tain to cross the Links off their list, and in doing so, they have asked for a memento to take home from the game. For over a century, the match programme has been that ideal keepsake for fans and it's a tradition we intend to keep going for seasons to come. From a personal standpoint, it would be great to see other North Caley clubs do the same."
The club wishes to thank those who have advertised in our pages throughout the season, making the programme feesible. Anyone who wishes to take a small and very affordable ad in the 2017-18 issue should get in touch with a club committee member.
We also wish to thank Tain & District Picture Post and Mowat Print & Design, who assisted with production.
