Date: Saturday, October 14th, 2017
Venue: The Links Playing Fields, Tain
Referee: Chris MacLeod
Assistant referees: James McMillan & Kieran Cameron
With a place in the Football Times Cup Final at stake, St Duthus face the task of toppling the cream of the crop from the Western Isles, in Lewis & Harris FC.
There is no avoiding the statistics that the Saints have now gone three games without a win in normal time -- and the manager is the first to admit that performances have not been up to grade.
It will be good to have the chance to try to rectify some of the shortcomings in recent weeks. Last weekend was not good enough in terms of the standard we’ve set for ourselves in earlier games this season, and I’m disappointed with the way we competed and how we turned up. That said, we had a good session in training this week, we’ve all regrouped and the boys are now looking forward to today’s game with a renewed focus.
Jon Campbell is expected to return for the Saints after missing out last weekend while on holiday. Rory Patience is also a likely returnee, having recovered from a leg injury. Still absent due to injury are Adam MacDonald and Sam Beeston.
Little is known about the Lewis & Harris men other than their two games played so far this season. A thumping win away to Elgin City's U20 team saw them advance to the quarter final to meet Golspie. An 88th minute Angus Munro penalty saw them get through at King George V Park to make it 2 wins out of 2.
As ever, hot food and drinks will be on sale from the tea hut throughout the game and at half time, and we will also have a bumper 32 page full colour edition of our match programme on sale.
