Game: Bunillidh Thistle FC v St Duthus FC (North Caledonian Cup Quarter Final)
Date: Saturday, January 6th, 2018
Venue: Couper Park, Helmsdale
Referee: Graham Elder
Assistant referees: Paul Reid & Stephen Tait
RETURNING from the festive break, the Saints will kick off 2018 with a North Caledonian Cup Quarter Final meeting in Helmsdale, against Bunillidh Thistle this Saturday. The team will travel to Couper Park for the second time this season, for what will so far be the third scheduled date for this fixture.
Recent attempts to play the game have gone awry due to frozen or flooded pitches, at both Couper Park and the Links, the latter being offered as an alternate venue at the last time of asking. Pleasingly, midweek inspections from Helmsdale quarters suggest the pitch will be in good shape for the weekend.
For St Duthus, Adam MacDonald, Lewis Ross and Martyn Farquhar all remain absent due to work commitments, while long term injury absentee Ewan Ross is still on the sidelines. Aside from that, Stuart and Andrew Ross should have a full squad to pick from.
The Saints coaching team have been keenly awaiting the fixture.
We're all excited to get back into action after breaking up for the festive period. We've kept active in training and had good numbers. On Wednesday, the boys all looked in good form and are looking forward to going back to Bunillidh where we can hopefully reverse the result from last time we were up there and take a win.
Bunillidh will go into Saturday's game without having played a competitive fixture since December 2nd, when they were beaten 7-2 up at Thurso on league duty.
The game kicks off at 1pm at Couper Park in Helmsdale. It is anticipated that a final pitch inspection will take place on Saturday morning.
