THE ANNUAL General Meeting of St Duthus Football Club was held at Old Tom's Bar & Restaurant at Tain Golf Club tonight, with a good number present to discuss various club issues, complimented by an overriding sense of celebration, as the club toasted a successful second season in the North Caledonian League and the launch of their new U17 team.
Niall Harkiss began proceedings with a summary of the year, highlighting the club's successes in achieving their off the field aims of attaining the SFA Quality Mark Standard Award and launching an U17 youth wing. Niall Harkiss was duly re-elected for a third season as Chairperson, while committee member Tony Farquhar was elected as Vice Chair - a new role to the club. Niall Harkiss and Dale Finlayson assumed joint responsibility for the Treasury and joining the club for the first time, Kevin Gilmour was elected as Senior Team Secretary for the forthcoming season. The club also confirmed the election of Steve Spence as the club's Child Wellbeing & Protection Officer.
The committee acknowledged receipt of various donations and sponsorships received throughout 2017-18, and it was noted that the club had been very well supported by the local community. It was recognised that the club's standing within the town was especially pleasing. It is expected that the club will now run a number of fundraising initiatives throughout the summer ahead of the new season.
Team Managers Stuart and Andrew Ross heaped praise on their North Caledonian League squad for their cup final success in March which was unanimously hailed as a great day for the club. The U17 coaching team reserved praise also for how well their newly assembled squad had integrated and for the standard of football being played in the Ross-shire Youth League. Everyone at the club is now eagerly awaiting the 2018-19 season.
The club discussed various off the field matters, including club finances, facilities, quality management, coach education, league matters and plans for pitch regeneration, before concluding business.
