FORMER Wick Academy goalkeeper and second generation Saint Danny McCarthy has signed for the Saints as the newest addition to the squad ahead of the 2018-19 season.
A former Ross County youth, Danny - who turned 20 last week - will follow in the footsteps of his father DJ McCarthy, who played between the sticks for Tain St Duthus for many years during the 1980s and 90s. One of two footballing brothers, Danny had been competing for a place in goal with his brother Sean at Wick Academy until the end of last season. Speaking today, he said;
"I am glad to have the opportunity to come and play for St Duthus. I know a lot of the boys in the squad as I have been training with them in Tain while I was with Wick. This is the first opportunity I've had to play with my friends - something I haven't done my whole playing career ever since I was at County. I am really looking forward to pre-season and getting started."
