Game: Invergordon FC v St Duthus FC (Macleod & MacCallum North Caledonian League)
Date: Saturday, September 8th, 2018
Venue: Recreation Grounds, Invergordon
Referee: Gordon Seago
Assistant referees: Andrew Grant & Scott Munro
THE FIRST game of the new league season kicks off for St Duthus tomorrow, as they travel to neighbouring Invergordon for a derby day opener in the Macleod & MacCallum North Caledonian League.
Manager Stuart Ross faces a few difficulties in team selection with no fewer than ten of his new squad unavailable due to work commitments, sickness and injury. No fewer than six players are expected to be missing from last weekend's squad who traveled to Nairn in the Football Times Cup. A makeshift first eleven is expected with trialists set to make appearances.
It is anticipated that the derby with provide a tough opening game for the Saints. Last season, Invergordon took all six points in both league fixtures, albeit in games which proved to be close encounters. As last year's runners-up though, Invergordon will no doubt remain favourites to win tomorrow's game.
Gary Campbell's charges have had an extensive competitive preparation for the new campaign, having already played in two tough North of Scotland Cup matches against Golspie Sutherland and Ross County. Their own league opener ended with a comfortable 3-0 win over Inverness Athletic last weekend, having done all the necessary damage in the first half of the game - and they will be looking to approach tomorrow's game in the same way. It will be up to Saints to do what they can to prevent that from happening.
The game kicks off at Invergordon's Recreation Grounds at 2.30pm.
