Game: Bunillidh Thistle FC v St Duthus FC (Macleod & MacCallum North Caledonian League)
Date: Saturday, October 6th, 2018
Venue: Couper Park, Helmsdale
Referee: Gordon Morrison
Assistant referees: David Alexander & Malcolm Macleod
A TRIP to Helmsdale awaits St Duthus this weekend as they get back on the road in the Macleod & MacCallum North Caledonian League aiming to record their first league points of the season - this time away to Bunillidh Thistle.
On the back of an unlucky and narrow 3-2 defeat to Orkney, the squad is expected to remain mostly unchanged with the exception of Sam Beeston and goalkeeper Ali Matheson coming back into contention. Glenn Fell remains the only noteable short term injury worry, while Jordan Mackinnon and Kyle Stewart also continue their recovery.
Manager Stuart Ross has remained in bouyant mood despite the team's recent run.
"Training was extremely well attended during the week and spirits are high after a good performance, despite defeat, against Orkney. I thought we were really unlucky not to take at least a point from that game. The guys showed their willingness to fight for each other and we will be looking to continue our better form and hopefully get a result."
"Bunillidh is a difficult venue to go to and we found that out last year when they turned us over up there in the same league fixture. We'll have to be on our game and on guard for what they will throw at us as they, like us, are going through a transition and could be full of surprises. Above all, this weekend will be all about getting some points on the board."
Under new management, Bunillidh have started the season off much in the same way as Saints have. With frequent changes in the team lineup and multiple trialists used thus far, they have yet to win a match and currently find themselves bottom of the division on goal difference. They will no doubt be an unknown quantity on Saturday, however, home advantage, as is always the case in Helmsdale, will be of signifcant advantage to Thistle as they look to win their first points at the expense of St Duthus for a second successive season.
The game kicks off at 2.30pm at Bunillidh's Couper Park in Helmsdale.
