ANOTHER trip North sees St Duthus travel to Sir George's Park on league business this weekend, as they look to overcome seventh placed finish Thurso and get themselves back to winning ways.
With just two games to go, a win for Saints would guarantee them a top six finish in the Macleod & MacCallum North Caledonian League, capping off a commendable second half to the season which has seen them lose just once in their last eight games.
Saints go up to Thurso with several missing out due to other commitments, including Barry Kenny, Lewis Ross, Martyn Farquhar, Alan Geegan and Charlie Macdonald. Room will be made however for a handful of trialists who are expected to be involved, including a returning Saint.
Manager Stuart Ross is keen to get back to playing.
"It's been a frustrating couple of weeks with the weather. The last game we played was away to Golspie a fortnight ago in poor conditions. The boys showed a lot of fight that day and we'll be looking for the same up at the Dammies against Thurso. It'll be a tricky game, but one we're looking forward. We've kept the lads ticking over in training and in doing so, we've set ourselves a target to try to win six points from these final two games up in Caithness."
The last time the teams met was on a fair weather day at the Links in what turned out to be an eight goal thriller. Both sides had the lead in a firey affair which saw Saints ultimately snatch a 4-4 draw thanks to a 92nd minute goal for Bartek Sosnowski. St Duthus will be looking to go one better on Thurso's turf and win the game tomorrow.
The game kicks off at Sir George's at 1pm.
