It has been a busy week for St. Duthus as they prepare for their season opener at home to Bunillidh Thistle in the Jock Mackay Memorial Cup this weekend.
Winger Finn As-Chainey makes a welcome return to the club having spent last season competing in the East of Scotland Development League with Heriot Watt University. Finn last featured for Saints in 2018 as part of the club's highly praised North Caledonian Cup winning squad, collecting the club's Young Player of the Year award too.
Goalkeeper Stephen Campbell this week re-registered for what will be his third season with St. Duthus and he has been joined in competition by former Brora Rangers and University of Stirling stopper Johnny Allan who also put pen to paper during the week. Balintore native Allan, 24, returns to the local area having completed his university education and is looking forward to pulling on a St. Duthus jersey for the first time since appearing as a pre-season trialist in 2017.
Following a successful pre-season with the first team, U17 graduates Aiden Stainke and Keir Carson have also signed up for the new North Caledonian League season, both having given a good showing in several friendly matches in August.
Finally, a brand new face at St. Duthus is former Highland League midfielder Stefan MacRitchie. The ex Clachnacuddin, Strathspey and Fort William man started off as a youth with Inverness Caledonian Thistle before joining Clach in 2010 at the age of 17. A tenacious player in the middle of the park, Stefan played as a trialist in the club's recent game away to Ardersier and made an instant impact, playing a part in several of the Saints goals.
