A fortnight on from their first round victory over Bunillidh Thistle, St. Duthus are at home again in the Jock Mackay Memorial Cup, this time with the task of getting past visitors Halkirk United as they aim to secure a place in the semi-final.
The onus will be on getting back to winning ways immediately after a second half capitulation against Thurso last weekend. The team news though looks good for Saints as they welcome back Craig Munro, Ben Bruce and Will Ross, while Alan Geegan, Andreas Broomfield and Stefan MacRitchie are likely absentees.
Manager Stuart Ross is hopeful for a good start against the Caithness side.
"We've been itching to get back on the park this weekend as we look to get last Saturday out of our systems. Training has gone very well, but as ever it's a different story on a Saturday."
"We have a good record against Halkirk at home, but they always turn out a good young, gutsy side and aren't to be taken lightly and we're aware we're in for a tough game. We'll be looking to start well and make our stamp on the game early."
If form is anything to go by, recent results do not favour Halkirk, who thus far only have an 8-0 defeat away to Orkney to speak of, although it is very much early days for all sides in the competition with many like Halkirk having played just once. When last the teams met in March, they drew a blank in a 0-0 draw at Morrison Park - so Saints will be well aware that victory does not come easy against the Anglers.
As for mother nature - the weather forecast is expected to be blustery at best and will no doubt play its part in the outcome of the game - such are the joys of winter football!
Kick off is at 2pm and penalties will split the sides if honours are even at full time.
