Game: Lossiemouth FC v St Duthus FC (North Caledonian Cup Quarter Final)
Date: Saturday, November 26th, 2016
Venue: Grant Park, Lossiemouth
The Saints will take a break from league action in the coming week, as they turn their attention to the North Caledonian Cup. Starting at the quarter final stage, they will travel to Grant Park, home of Lossiemouth FC, who have entered their development team into the competition for the first time this season.
A squad ravaged with absences due to injury, suspension and work commitments means that it should be a bit of a makeshift eleven for the Saints as consistency in team selection remains the main item on manager Stuart Ross's Christmas list as the year draws to a close.
We're looking forward to visiting another new venue in Grant Park, which should be a first for the Saints I think. It's good to take a break from league business too, where I think we've been terribly unlucky in recent games. This game will come as a welcome distraction and offers a change of focus for the boys. We're excited to be taking a young squad to Lossie, who have a chance to impress and make their mark in the absence of others.
Relative unknowns in the North Caledonian landscape, Lossiemouth's under 20s play in the North of Scotland U20 Development League, alongside several other teams from the Highland Football League, and Alness United, who are the only team to currently represent the NCL in the U20 ranks. The winners of this quarter final tie will advanced to the semi final to visit King George V Park to meet Golspie Sutherland, who dispatched Alness United by 9 goals to nil in their quarter final tie.
