Having played for both Ross County and Inverness CT at youth level, Lewis first played at senior level with Fearn Thistle at the age of just 13 and later Balintore while still at school. In recreational football circles, Lewis came to prominence playing his Inver FC in the Ross-shire Welfare League, setting record scoring total of 59 goals in one season. Soon after he signed and became a first team regular with Highland League side Brora Rangers where he remained for several seasons before moving to Clachnacuddin. Latterly, he played for Balintore in the North Caledonian League, before joining St Duthus in 2016.
Work commitments off-shore have kept Lewis out of regular action, but his experience has seen him used in a number of roles when available for St Duthus, in defence, midfield and attack, contributing a good number of goals. In March 2018, he scored the first goal in the Saints' North Caledonian Cup Final win over Golspie Sutherland.
