Tomorrow's Football Times Cup South group clash between St. Duthus and Inverness Athletic may as well be called a semi-final as both teams look to bag a place in the final on the back of this match. Both teams need a result of sorts, with the conditions slightly different for each team -- for Saints a draw will be good enough, while the home side need to win the match to make it through.
This will be the fourth time already this season that the teams have met, having played each other twice in the league and once at Inverness in the Jock Mackay Cup back in October. The now familiar territory of Inverness Royal Academy has been a happy hunting ground for Saints so far, having accumulated an aggregate score of 9-3 in their first two visits. They will be hoping for more of the same tomorrow.
Saints go in to the game with Ross Tokely the noted absentee, serving a one match suspension for a second bookable offence last weekend against Lewis & Harris. Scott Miller, Craig Munro and Reece Paterson are also among those expected to miss out. Goalkeeper John Allan comes back into the squad though, as do Scott Maclean and Stefan MacRitchie.
Interim manager of Inverness Jason Golabek has managed to lift his charges since his appointment in November. Their impressive 3-1 win over Invergordon last week and a draw with Lewis & Harris a fortnight before certainly suggests that they have turned the corner on a season which started badly. Inverness are still chasing an elusive home win though, having been without a win at the Academy since September.
The match kicks off at 1pm and will go to penalties should it finish in a draw. In the event of this, the teams will share a point each and a further point shall be awarded to the winner of the shoot-out.
