St. Duthus begin the new year with a cup final to look forward to, while maintaining a determined focus on the fiercely competitive North Caley title picture -- and they do so with two new signings on board.
Goalkeeper Danny McCarthy made an unexpected but welcome return to the club in early December and has made quite an impact since, turning in impressive performances in the Football Times Cup against Invergordon and Lewis & Harris. The former Wick Academy stopper briefly joined Saints in August 2018 before leaving to sign for Brora Rangers for most of last season. The second generation Saint has now rejoined the club until the end of 2019-20.
Midfielder Scott Maclean is the latest former Highland Football League player to join the Saints squad as managers Stuart and Andrew Ross look to enhance their midfield and wide options. Scott, 23, is a graduate of the Clachnacuddin youth system who enjoyed spells with the first team at Grant Street before joining Rothes in 2017. He made his St. Duthus debut as a trialist this past November before agreeing to join the club until the end of the season.
In other player news, Finlay Macleod and Dean Allison have both left the club. Everyone at St. Duthus would like to thank Finlay and Dean for their contributions this season and wish them the very best in their next steps.
