St. Duthus FC are delighted to acknowledge receipt of £1500 from the Friends of Alan Ross Fundraiser fund.
The donation is a share of an overall sum of over £20,000 raised at the Friends of Alan Ross Fundraiser event, which was arranged in August by former Saints player Jim Oliver in tribute to his life-long friend Alan Ross. The event was held to raise funds for charities and causes chosen by former Tain St. Duthus player and committee member Alan, who sadly passed away in October after a battle with cancer.
This kind gesture follows an initial donation of £500 from Jim, who agreed to also donate 50% of the profits from the sale of his book, "What the **** are you playing at?" to causes of Alan's choosing.
Speaking last month, Jim said, “I spoke with Alan about where we could put some of the proceeds from the fundraiser and my book sales. As we both played for Tain and had a life-long love of the game, it made sense to put something back into the club."
Club chairman Niall Harkiss said: “St Duthus have always been indebted to Alan as one of our greatest custodians, and as has been evident in many messages we have received in recent months, he is sorely missed. We extend our thanks to Alan’s wife Liz, his family and Jim for this wonderful gesture.”
