U18s: Nairn County 3 St Duthus 4

An agonising 93rd minute penalty kick for handball denied the Young Saints a point in their latest Highland League under-18 north fixture at Nairn on Sunday.

The Tain side stormed into a 3-1 half time lead thanks to a Johnie Beattie hat-trick after Nairn had taken a 13th minute lead through Scott Stewart.

Beattie notched his first a minute after the opener with an opportunistic strike inside the box, and just before the half hour mark he made it two with a composed finish on the rebound.

He made it three four minutes before half-time with a wicked strike fired into the roof of the net from an angle after a neat one-two.

But it all went wrong in the second half as Josh Stephenson netted twice in eight minutes to draw the scores level.

It seemed as though the game might end in a draw with the points being shared, but a penalty kick award for Nairn three minutes into stoppage time handed the home side the chance, and they did just that; Stewart firing past stand-in stopper Billy Knox from twelve yards.
