Inverness 5 St Duthus 2

In strong winds at Inverness Royal Academy, St Duthus suffered defeat at the hands of Inverness Athletic for the first time in five years.

Scott MacDonald gave Saints the lead after 9 minutes before a penalty award brought the hosts back into the game. Inverness then took the lead with a header on 19 minutes.

It was 3-1 just four minutes later as a chaotic game began to drift out of Saints’ control.

A penalty award at the other end did reduce the deficit on the half hour mark, Jack Kerr netting his fourth goal of the season, but just three minutes before the interval, a ball across goal was forced beyond Johnny Allan to make it 4-2.

The damage done during a chaotic first half, the second heralded no comeback in increasingly poor conditions, and to make matters worse Jack Wardrop was sent off for a high challenge.

A late goal saw Inverness extend their lead further as they claimed all three points.
