Cup exit for Saints

St Duthus fell at the first hurdle in the North Caledonian Cup today, losing 2-0 to Easter Ross rivals Invergordon.

An injury to Adam Allan and a two-game ban for Jack Wardrop forced the manager into some changes for the tie, with and the returning Adrian Voigt and Billy Cairns coming into the side. Jack Kerr and John Maclellan also dropped to the bench, swapping places with Thomas Lewis and Stefan MacRitchie.

In wet and blustery conditions at Grant Park, Saints were rocked by two early goals from the visitors, who first netted through Blair Morrison who headed high and over John Allan into the net.

Callum Murray then gave them a 2-0 half-time lead.

Invergordon were reduced to ten men early in the second half, but despite the man advantage and a valiant effort from the home side, the score remained the same.

St Duthus will now focus all of their attention on their five remaining league games this campaign.

Team: J Allan, Millard (Maclellan 65), Voigt, John Skinner, Jamie Skinner, Loughlin, MacRitchie (Irvine 77), Lewis (Kerr 56), Cairns (Scott 82), MacDonald, As-Chainey
