End of season honours for Skinner and Lewis

With the season now at an end, players, coaches, committee and volunteers gathered at Tain Golf Club this afternoon for the presentation of the club’s end of season awards.

Capping off a fine season for Saints as this year’s recipient of the Players’ Player of the Season shield is Jamie Skinner.

Jamie made the transition from defence to midfield this year and has been a mainstay at centre half since, leading by example with some sterling performances in some big games.

Having played in all 24 matches, his unmatched commitment to training and playing has been exemplary.

His contribution off the field too, raising money for the club and charity Mikeysline by completing the Inverness half-marathon, only further reinforces the 24 year old as an excellent representative of St Duthus FC.

A second generation winner, it has been an extra special season for Jamie and his dad John, also a former shield winner, who have shared the centre half berths together for most of the season, as #4 and #5.

Named as this year’s Young Player of the Season, and the latest to be presented with the Alan Ross Memorial Shield is Thomas Lewis, who also collected awards for Top Goalscorer, and Goal of the Season.

Netting six goals this season from various positions, he has settled in to the club superbly well and has already reaffirmed his commitment to doubling that tally next season!

Still just 20 years old, Thomas has been a fantastic addition this term and with his best years still to come, is sure to be an exciting prospect for the future.

His goal against Halkirk United recently, netting with a first time lob on the end of a long kick from John Allan earned him this year’s Goal of the Season award.

Congratulations to both Jamie and Thomas on their awards!
